Position Description:
The School of Social and Behavioral Sciences (SSBS) in the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University (ASU) is seeking a full-time, benefits-eligible, non-tenure track Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor in Psychology to teach in-person and online within undergraduate and graduate psychology programs with a concentration in Sport Psychology. The anticipated start date is August 2026. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching sport psychology, along with expertise in one or more of the following general areas of psychology: cultural, social, developmental, biological/physiological, health, or counseling. Teaching loads for these positions are typically 12 credits per semester (a 4/4 load), with potential opportunities for summer teaching. The workload is comprised of 80% teaching and 20% service activities in support of the unit, college, and/or university.

Requirements
Successful candidates will demonstrate throughout their materials how their teaching and service will contribute to the fulfillment of this charter.
Essential Functions of the Position:
- Teach graduate, upper and/or lower-division courses to graduate and undergraduate students, in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats.
- Instructors are required to prepare syllabus, lectures and class materials, exams, order textbooks, and grade assignments and exams.
- Maintain regular availability to students, including office hours as appropriate to course modality.
- Monitor student success and regularly respond to student academic issues.
- Foster collegiality throughout the organization.
- Complete periodic mandatory training.
- Monitor and respond to university, college, and school communication and requests.
- Maintain and update course materials as appropriate to the field and modality.
- Provide service to the unit, school, and college as appropriate for the rank.
- To be considered for an Associate Teaching Professor position, one must have at least five years of relevant teaching experience and have successfully gone through the promotion process at another institution.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Psychology or related field at time of hire
Desired Qualifications:
- Degree and/or teaching experience in Sport Psychology
- Experience teaching courses in-person and online
- Experience teaching graduate courses
- Demonstrated commitment to working successfully with students from a wide variety of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including first-generation college students
- Evidence of teaching effectiveness – e.g., student evaluations, syllabi, peer observation, annual evaluations, etc.
- CMPC-certified and approved CMPC mentor
- Teaching/Student evaluations may be requested at the time of interview.
