Description
This is a licensed professional class in the Sheriff's Office, Medical Services Division. Mental Health Clinicians provide a wide variety of professional mental health and case management services to incarcerated individuals with psychiatric disorders. In this position, you will conduct clinical assessments and develop treatment plans within a medical/psychiatric treatment program to patients presenting a varied array of psychiatric/psychological/substance use issues.
Ideal candidates will have:
*Professional level experience as part of a multi-disciplinary treatment team
*Served as a program specialist or provided technical expertise through the application of appropriate individual or group psycho-therapeutic methods to adults during periods of crisis
*Familiarity with and ability to function within the organizational structure of a law enforcement agency
*Experience interfacing with a wide range of community organizations and knowledge of community resources
*Professional demeanor with other agencies and collaborative partners with incarcerated individuals and families of incarcerated individuals
*Knowledge of the California Welfare Act, Lanterman-Petris-Short (LPS) Act and Penal Codes 1026, 2970 and 1370
In addition, the department desires a candidate that displays leadership skills, can communicate effectively, can hold self and others accountable, is a problem solver and is innovative, demonstrates ethical behavior, leverages resources (coaches and develops), drives to excel, maximizes team effectiveness, and is supportive of change.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current licensure by the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Marriage, Family and Child Counselor (MFCC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), or Clinical Psychologist
AND Possession of a master's degree from an accredited graduate school in social work, psychology, counseling or a closely related field;
AND At least two (2) years of full-time, post master's degree experience in a mental health program providing counseling and crisis intervention to adults under clinical supervision.
