Job Description:

The University invites applications for a tenure track, full-time position in the Psychology program with area of specialization open. The Psychology program is in a department that includes programs in Criminal and Restorative Justice, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Human Development and Family Studies. It is a vibrant and collegial program in which faculty and students work closely together to support student success and excellence in undergraduate teaching. The program offers an undergraduate degree in Psychology along with a minor and concentrations and certificates in Criminal Justice/ Mental Health, Behavioral Analysis, and Expressive Therapies. The position is scheduled to begin in August 2022. Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and experience teaching. Candidate should possess expertise in Psychology or a related field.

Responsibilities include service to the University and/or professional community, a research agenda, and teaching courses at the undergraduate level. Examples of courses to be taught may include Introductory Psychology, Critical Writing and Research in the Social Sciences, Statistics and Research Methods for the Behavioral Sciences, and other courses based on candidate interest.


  • Terminal Degree (Ph.D., Ed. D. or Psy.D.) in Psychology or related field is preferred. Candidates who are ABD will be considered.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students or evidence of strong potential in these areas is required.
  • Evidence of a scholarly agenda.
  • Demonstrated experience with on-line and/or hybrid learning is preferred.
  • Cultural competency to work with diverse student and/or employee population
  • Commitment to the mission of the University of Saint Joseph
  • Physical ability to perform essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation
