Essential Job Duties

  • Objectively assess and triage all incoming threat cases about actual or potential incidents of violence using current accepted processes.
  • Provide threat assessment response, and intervention to potentially violent situations.
  • As civilian coordinator interview, investigate, and document non-criminal threat cases.
  • Review Incident Reports to determine cases that will be tracked by the threat teams.
  • Provide database management to insure data integrity.
  • Serve as the department's functional expert for the threat case management system.
  • Follow protocols regarding handling of confidential and highly sensitive law enforcement data and information.
  • Coordinate the development of threat assessment and violence prevention procedures, protocols, and resources.
  • Provide victim/witness assistance services to reporting victims and concerned community members.
  • Refer victims to appropriate University resources to provide ongoing victim assistance, as needed.
  • Provide consultation and support of efforts on Work Place Violence Reduction and education.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and annual reports of threats reported on campus and details about responses to the reported incidents.
  • Oversee the design, development and assessment of 24-hour threat response system.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or their designees.



Requirements

Education

  • A Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, social work, mental health, psychology, criminal justice or other relevant degree;

Preferred Qualification

  • Certified Threat Manager
  • Master’s Degree in social work, mental health, psychology, criminal justice or other relevant degree
  • Working knowledge of threat assessment and threat management theory and practice, and experience in assessment and management of cases involving potential violence
  • Experience in providing training and outreach on such topics as suicide prevention and violence prevention

Minimum Experience

  • Two years’ experience in conducting threat assessments and developing threat management strategies
  • Knowledge and understanding of violence prevention and intervention techniques, and a strong knowledge and understanding of interpersonal violence.

Valid NC Driver's License required

Yes -A valid North Carolina Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 60 days of start date.
