Description
The School Psychologist serves as a specialized provider supporting student success across academic, cognitive, social-emotional, and behavioral domains. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive evaluations, supporting eligibility determinations, and developing data-informed interventions within a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS/RtI).
The School Psychologist collaborates with educators, families, and related service providers to design and implement evidence-based strategies that improve student outcomes and ensure compliance with IDEA and state/federal special education requirements.
Requirements
I. Psycho-Educational Assessment
Conduct comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations for special education eligibility, including assessments of cognitive, academic, social-emotional, and adaptive functioning.
Interpret assessment data to identify student strengths and needs and to inform eligibility determinations and instructional planning.
Integrate multiple data sources (formal testing, observations, records, and interviews) to develop a holistic understanding of student functioning.
Prepare clear, legally compliant evaluation reports with educationally relevant recommendations.
II. Intervention and Student Support
Develop, recommend, and monitor evidence-based academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions aligned with student needs.
Provide individual and group counseling services as appropriate to support student emotional regulation, coping skills, and school adjustment.
Support school-based problem-solving teams in developing targeted interventions within MTSS/RtI frameworks.
Assist in the development and monitoring of behavior support plans using functional, data-informed approaches.
III. Consultation and Collaboration
Consult with teachers, administrators, and families to interpret evaluation results and develop effective instructional and behavioral strategies.
Participate actively in Individualized Education Program (IEP) and Section 504 meetings, contributing assessment data, interpretation, and goal development.
Collaborate with school staff and related service providers to ensure coordinated supports for students.
Provide guidance on implementing interventions and progress-monitoring strategies.
IV. School Systems and Crisis Support
Support school-wide initiatives within MTSS/RtI frameworks focused on academic, behavioral, and social-emotional outcomes.
Assist in crisis prevention, intervention, and response, including trauma-informed practices and risk assessment as needed.
Analyze student-level and school-wide data to identify trends and support systems-level improvements.
Contribute to a positive, safe, and inclusive school climate.
