Description
The Davis Academy, an independent school, Kindergarten Prep – Eighth Grade, in Dunwoody/Sandy Springs seeks an experienced School Psychologist to join its vibrant student services team. Applicants must have a Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology and a Minimum of 5 years of experience working as School Psychologist.
The School Psychologist provides leadership and expertise to support students’ academic development and executive functioning needs, in alignment with The Davis Academy’s mission. The School Psychologist is a key member of the Middle School Student Services Team and collaborates closely with administrators, school counselors and the Davis Learning Center faculty to support students, families, and faculty.
Primary Responsibilities
A. Student Support and Program Leadership
Provide leadership in all aspects of Middle School student support, including academic, executive functioning, and behavioral needs.
o Oversee the Student Support Team (SST) problem-solving process, including:
o Facilitating SST meetings with teachers
o Conducting classroom observations
o Consulting with teachers and school counselors
o Monitoring student academic and behavioral progress
o Communicating with families regarding student progress and concerns
Conduct formal and informal student observations and provide instructional feedback to teachers
Review classroom data, assessments, and other relevant data to evaluate student progress
Design, implement, and monitor academic, executive functioning, and behavioral interventions
Interpret psycho-educational evaluations and support teachers in implementing recommendations
Participate in meetings with parents to address academic and behavioral concerns
Provide one-on-one executive functioning support to students as needed
Conduct reading and writing screenings to inform instructional planning and next steps
Assist teachers in completing rating scales for outside professionals
Create and maintain Learning Profiles, psycho-educational summaries, and accommodation plans
Collaborate with outside professionals and provide appropriate referrals when needed
Participate in Parent-Teacher conferences as appropriate
B. Admissions Support
Collaborate with the Director of Admissions to support the admissions process
Conduct academic testing and review admissions files
Observe prospective students in their current educational settings when appropriate
Make recommendations regarding student fit, contingencies, and support services
C. Assessment and Testing
Collaborate with the Lower School Psychologist in the administration of school-wide standardized testing (CTP5)
D. Student Records and Systems Management
Support the creation, maintenance, and accuracy of student records in Veracross in collaboration with the School Registrar
Upload and manage psycho-educational evaluations, learning profiles, custody documentation, referrals, teacher recommendations, and year-end placement information
E. Collaboration and Consultation
Collaborate closely with school counselors to support student needs and manage complex situations
Provide education and consultation for faculty and parents as needed
Partner with the Davis Learning Center Coordinator to ensure individual student needs are met and to coordinate services with outside professionals
F. Professional Development and School Initiatives
Assist the Associate Head of School, Principal, and other administrators with faculty professional development
Support school-wide programming and other initiatives as needed
Requirements
Qualifications:
Master’s degree or higher in School Psychology
Minimum of five years of experience working as a School Psychologist
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of faculty, staff, parents, and external professionals
Ability to work both independently and in highly collaborative team environments
Self-motivated with a commitment to maintaining high professional and ethical standards
Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student and family information.
