An earned doctorate from an APA-accredited program in counseling, clinical or school psychology.
Position Summary
We are seeking an exceptional and experienced candidate for an open-rank, tenure-track position in the Counseling Psychology doctoral (APA accredited) and Mental Health Counseling master's (MPCAC accredited) programs in the Department of Counseling and Human Development Services at the University of Georgia to begin August 1, 2026. Specifically, we seek a candidate whose program of work demonstrates innovation, inclusive excellence, and interdisciplinarity to continually enhance research and teaching excellence for our doctoral and master's students as well as advances our department's goals and aligns with the Mary Frances Early College of Education's mission.
Responsibilities for this position include: 1) teaching core graduate courses in counseling psychology, mental health counseling; 2) providing clinical supervision of field experiences in counseling psychology and mental health counseling; 3) conducting research that is relevant to the field of counseling psychology; 4) advising doctoral students and serving on dissertation committees; and 5) contributing service to university, college, departmental, and program committees, to professional associations, and to local, national, and/or international communities. The MFE COE recognizes that the scholarly work of faculty often includes the integration of teaching, research, and service.
Additional Requirements
Candidates must be licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in Georgia.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification
Preferred qualifications include one or more of the following: 1) strong record of scholarly research that advances the field of counseling psychology; 2) demonstrated teaching experience of at least three years with graduate and/or undergraduate students in psychology or counseling; 3) leadership, program coordination, and/or program development experience of at least one semester or quarter term.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated record of professional contributions to counseling psychology in the areas of research, teaching, and/or service.
