- Mental Health Team Leader
Description
The role of Mental Health Team Leader within Southern Queensland Correctional Centre leads a multidisciplinary team who deliver clinical services that promote mental health, well-being and the safety of the adults accommodated in our centre. The Centre provides high security secure placement accommodation for sentenced and remand women that are classified as high or low security. It houses both secure and residential prisoners.
The women at SQCC have a wide range of employment opportunities within the Centre in areas including food services, horticulture, laundry operations and manufacturing.
Southern Queensland Correctional Centre works to address offending behaviours by offering a various therapeutic interventions and substance abuse counselling. SQCC encourages women to prepare themselves for success upon release into the community and delivers a varied suite of educational and vocational programs in which women can receive Certificate II and III qualifications.
Each day, your role may include:
Providing clinical supervision, leadership, consultation and expertise in the planning and provision of clinical services by the multidisciplinary mental health team who deliver mental health assessment, intervention, and crisis management, ensuring the provision of safe high-quality person-centred care
Demonstrating advanced clinical reasoning skills in the provision of clinical care, and maintaining a client caseload commensurate with responsibilities of the role
Chairing and leading multi-disciplinary meetings, for example, those that oversee centre decision-making regarding suicide risk assessment and management, and case management of prisoners with complex needs
Collaborating with key stakeholders to develop partnerships that contribute to operational and clinical outcomes
Identifying and acting on opportunities for improvement in clinical practice; developing and leading ongoing quality improvement activities to enhance clinical care
Embedding a high performing team culture through good team leadership, management and administration.
Requirements
The possession of a tertiary degree qualification in Psychology or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution and full general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA).
For Social Workers:
The possession of a tertiary degree qualification accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Eligibility for membership of the Australian AASW is mandatory. Eligibility is dependent on the candidate having completed a tertiary degree qualification accredited by the AASW and the candidate does not have any other outstanding professional competency or ethical issues, or complaints known to the AASW which may preclude membership to the association.
For Occupational Therapists:
The possession of a tertiary degree qualification in Occupational Therapy from a recognised tertiary institution and registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (AHPRA).
