The Mental Health Clinician conducts assessments and provides therapy to all inmates residing in the mental health day treatment program at the Worcester County House of Corrections.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group therapy to inmates who have been diagnosed with a severe and persistent mental illness
• Respond to crisis calls from jail staff and/or family members
• Maintain necessary documentation to include assessments, therapy notes, file notes, and treatment plans. Completing documentation in a timely manner.
• Ensure compliance with all statutes, regulations and contractual requirements related to mental health care and substance use treatment within the jail.
• Attend and actively participate in supervision and staff meetings
• Attend trainings as assigned
• Perform all duties in accordance with the agency’s policies and procedures
• Adhere to all Advocates Way principles

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling Psychology, or related counseling field
• License-eligible in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling; current independent license is preferred
• Must have working knowledge of current version of the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical
• Manual of Mental Disorders.
• Demonstrated understanding of and competence in serving culturally diverse populations.
• Ability to read and write English.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Sensitivity to the needs of the population.
• Ability to thrive in team-oriented environment.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
• Outstanding reasoning and problem-solving abilities.
• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Must pass all background checks as required for position.
